What We Do > Research + Interface Prototyping

We research and design interfaces that accommodate people's natural communication, behavior, and work patterns so cognitive load is minimized and performance enhanced. Our interface design emphasizes natural and richly expressive communication technologies such as pen, speech, and multimodal input, as well as tangible interfaces embedded in familiar objects such as digital paper and pen. These interfaces are designed to be used in real-world field and mobile settings, to bridge learning opportunities between formal, informal, and mobile contexts, and to support collaboration.

Researchers at Incaa Designs have been known worldwide for the human-centered design of innovative interfaces and system prototypes, including ones that support:

• Kindergarten through college education in science and mathematics
• Natural and expressively powerful interaction with computers using speech, pen, and multimodal input
• Effective use of technology in field and mobile settings, or informal learning environments

• Comprehensive and scientifically objective assessments of the impact of technology on human performance, including proactive assessment of future technologies still in the planning stages
