Incaa Designs is a new independent nonprofit scientific research and technology development organization with 501(c)(3) status. It specializes in human-centered interface design that supports existing learning ecosystems, while also creating new paths for people to express, think, learn, and remember in the information age.
"What are the directions that technology needs to take to support human learning and education across the lifespan?"
We maintain a user testing laboratory, tools and infrastructure for evaluating the impact of existing interfaces, and for prototyping innovative new educational interfaces. Our organization provides training and hands-on research experience for high school and university students, postdoctoral fellows, and international visiting scientists. Information about our research findings are disseminated widely, and are used as the basis for advising other researchers, educators, governmental agencies, and the general public about the status of technology support for education. We also summarize the implications of our research findings for educational decision making and policy.
We are committed to objective and nonpartisan evaluations of the impact of educational technologies on students’ ability to perform and learn in different environments. We are interested in the exchange of objective information on this topic, and in ensuring that educational technologies improve the learning opportunities and lives of all people. These goals include identifying which technologies avoid expanding the achievement gap and related “digital divide” between different groups, such as white and minority students.
